Marcel Contin
Tennis Instructor
I began my tennis journey at the age of 5 in Santa Clarita, receiving training from top coaches in the area and across Southern California. While attending West Ranch High School, I competed in doubles. After high school, I enrolled at Glendale Community College where I got scholarships to play at some 4 years but unfortunately, my collegiate playing opportunities were cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this setback led me to shift my focus towards coaching. Throughout my coaching tenure, I've successfully guided players to secure spots at various colleges, spanning from Division 3 to Division 1 institutions. Additionally, I've had the privilege of serving as a hitting partner for WTA and ATP professionals, as well as high-level collegiate athletes.Adam Davidson
Tennis Instructor
Adam is a homegrown Valencia native who played tennis at Hart High where he set the record for most singles wins in a season and advanced to the QF of the CIF tournament.
He earned a scholarship to play tennis at Azusa Pacific University, where he played for four years. As team captain in 2005, he led the Cougars to win the school’s first ever NAIA National Championship. He won the prestigious Ojai Valley Invitational twice in doubles (2003, 2005) and once in singles (2004) and was a First Team NAIA All-American selection three times (2003-2005). He and his doubles partner, Sam Fletcher, were ranked #1 in the country for three years (2003-2005). His highest singles ranking was #14 in the country (2003).
After graduating with a bachelor’s in business, Adam turned pro and took his racquets around the world for the next three years, competing on the ATP tour. Traveling to over 35 countries, he notched several victories over top 100 ATP opponents in doubles and reached a career high of #527 in the world. Davidson played two seasons of World Team Tennis for the Sacramento Capitals, where he played alongside the likes of Pete Sampras, Anna Kournakova, Mark Knowles, and the Bryan Brothers.
With 15 years of coaching experience, in addition to a USPTA certification, Adam has coached a wide variety of players — from beginners to several Division I collegiate players. Gabe Harmat
USPTA Certified Tennis Instructor
Gabe was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel. In 1963 he was introduced to tennis for the first time. He was 13 years old.
In just two years he won the juniors and adult championships at his club and a year later he made the national junior team and represented Israel in Germany.
After completing his three-year military duty, he settled down in the US and continued pursuing his tennis ambitions by coaching and simultaneously competing on the US and European tour.
His best win came in 1983 in doubles over Shlomo Glickstein who was the French Open doubles finalist a year later, and also was 22 on the ATP in singles.
After experiencing a lack of sponsors and running out of funds, he turned to coaching.
Gabe has worked in several clubs in the valley and in LA , establishing himself as a prominent pro by winning the USPTA Pro of the Year twice and producing many college players. He also got to work with ATP and WTA players such as Dan Dan- China fed. Cup, Nir Welgreen – ATP 160.
At age of 35, Gabe returned to competition on the senior tour. Staying fit was quite handy leading to a high So Cal ranking, US national ranking, and number 5 I.T.F ranking. Some of his best accomplishments were winning the Macabia gold medal (1986), the sectionals in So. Cal, and reaching semi-finals twice in I.T.F world championships.
Gabe is looking forward to sharing with you a lifespan of coaching and playing experience and is ready to assist you with your tennis aspirations.
Gabe charges $90 per hour for private instruction.
René Heger
Tennis Director, USPTA Certified Tennis Instructor
René is originally from Germany. He started playing tennis at age seven and immediately fell in love with the sport. Recruited by talent scouts of the BTV (Baden Tennis Federation) at age ten, and with the unrelenting support of his parents, he started traveling to tournaments all over Germany. Winning the local Men’s tournament at age twelve caught the attention of scouts from bigger clubs and René signed a contract with Karlsruher ETV at age 14. Playing during an era where lots of Russian talent played in German higher tier clubs, he got to hit with the likes of Andreij Medvedev, Andrei Cherkasov among others.
It was during the 1994 season preparations that René started to experience lower back spasms, followed by consistent pain in his lower back region. Over the next year the problem continued to worsen and after specialist consultation, René had to finally abandon his pursuit of a professional tennis career at age 17 having barely started playing Challengers.
The biggest win of his youth career was beating Tommy Haas in straight sets at the Baden-Baden Championships. René never lost his passion for tennis and transitioned to coaching over the years. He is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), an internationally recognized organization, for “10 and Under” as well as “High Performance.”
René has been coaching at The Paseo Club since December 2018, and has been the Tennis Director of Paseo since 2023.
Rene charges $85 per hour for private training.

Despite getting cozy with the reserve bench his freshman year, Joyce ditched the 5 in 15, and worked his way up to the #1 JV spot his sophomore season, and claimed the title of team captain. He continued to play throughout his high school career, graduating as a top 5 district player, and captaining his varsity team, under the the coaching helm of Jen Azevedo (AKA “Favorite”).
Since high school, Nick Joyce has been pursuing a career in music, while sharing his knowledge for tennis. Joyce has coached two seasons at his alma mater, leading to an undefeated record in both bouts, and has helped train kids, teens, and adults alike.

KP Puvogel
USPTA Certified Tennis Instructor, Pickleball Instructor
Kenny Puvogel, better known as Coach KP, started at the Paseo Club as a tennis teaching professional in 2006 and is celebrating his 11th year teaching at the club.
He’s been teaching tennis for over 20 years, including taking a short venture to NYC in 2012 to teach at the prestigious Vanderbilt Tennis Club in Grand Central Terminal where he also served as Director of Fitness Programs and Personal Training. He also taught at the indoor courts at Sutton East Tennis and Yorkville Tennis Club; and at the Riverside Clay tennis courts.
He returned to Southern California and the Paseo Club in 2013 for a year before deciding to take another brief journey to teach tennis in the Atlanta area at the Manor Tennis Club, Polo Tennis Club, and Oz Tennis Academy.
Calling himself an ambassador of tennis, he loves working with all ages and believes his passion, energy, enthusiasm, and devotion to the sport transcends and inspires his students. He loves introducing the sport to beginners and teaches a high-energy, calorie burning, and fun-filled cardio tennis class. Additionally, he works with his clients to build a balance of tennis skills and fitness and strives for nothing but the highest quality program attainable while seeking to build lasting relationships with all of his students. He is a great motivator and is known affectionately to many as the “Pied Piper of Tennis.”
Before entering the tennis profession full time, Kenny spent over 25 years in the promotion, marketing, and sales fields of the music industry, 23 years with the legendary Warner Brothers Records family – the most successful, powerful, and prestigious label of the time – the last 10 years serving as Vice President of Rock Promotion.
With music being very popular among touring tennis pros, good fortune would bring Kenny together with former #1 world professional Jim Courier backstage at a R.E.M. concert in Atlanta in 1995. Through his ongoing relationship with Courier, Kenny has had the chance to spend time behind the scenes of professional tennis, meeting and learning from the pros, their coaches, and trainers and chatting with anyone who wants to talk tennis or music. While exchanging ideas on tennis and music, he absorbed everything the sport has to offer and has a wealth of priceless knowledge that he yearns to share.
Kenny’s tennis journey continued while he managed Sammy Hagar (Van Halen) and his travels took him to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico often where he began to teach part-time at the Adan Bries Tennis Academy and at local resort hotels. Looking for a new direction, he realized tennis was it and this is when he decided it was time for a change in pursuit of sharing his love of the game.
In 2000, he became a full-time tennis coach teaching independently in the Santa Clarita Valley. He has been the head coach at four of the six local high schools as well as directing the high school summer tennis program for College of the Canyons. With his West Ranch girls’ tennis team, he holds the distinction of having the first team of any sport at the school to make the CIF playoffs in school history.
Kenny believes the many people he met and continues to meet along the way give him a unique perspective on teaching tennis. He takes pride in his passion and considers himself to be what he calls a “tennis concierge” handling his clients’ every tennis need.

See what your friends say about tennis at the Paseo Club
I want to share my praise for tennis coach KP. In addition to making drills fun, his knowledge, experience, and coaching are amazing. I have sharpened my skills more after just a few sessions with him than I have in many years. This week I saw him coach someone who never picked up a racket. In less than an hour the new player was hitting the ball! As I said — Amazing!
