What are the Benefits of Liquid Cardio?

 

Paseo Club has something for everybody. Liquid Cardio class is a dynamic and fun form of water aerobics that members love. Liquid Cardio combines the natural resistance of water with your bodyweight and water weights to make a great class that helps you stay active. Liquid Cardio is taught to members ages 12 and up and is available to people of all skill levels.

 

What Does a Liquid Cardio Class Look Like?

Liquid Cardio is a one-hour class taught by a top instructor at the club’s resort-quality pool. In a supportive setting, members are led in a series of warm-ups, cardio and strength-training exercises, and a cool-down. You will use both your own body and free weights to tone and strengthen. Classes can be as mild or as intense as you want them to be. As you get stronger, you can increase the degree of challenge to meet your current level.

 

How Does Liquid Cardio Help Me Get Fit?

Water offers a safe environment that creates natural resistance when you are active. Water can actually be as much as 42 times more resistant than air, making it a perfect medium for training. Exercising in the pool automatically engages muscles as you move thereby increasing your coordination, agility, balance, flexibility, and strength. The Liquid Cardio class targets your core, legs, glutes, arms, and back making it a comprehensive full-body workout.

 

Liquid Cardio is especially great for heart health. As we age it is more important than ever to work our heart muscles and boost blood circulation. Regular aerobic exercise has been linked to helping lower a person’s blood pressure and resting heart rate.

 

Liquid Cardio also enhances your metabolism. Just one class of Liquid Cardio can burn 400-500 calories. This helps with weight loss and getting to, or maintaining, your target weight.

Increasing Safety in Daily Life

The Liquid Cardio program is a great choice for those struggling with balancing issues. Water helps support the body creating safer conditions for exercising and minimizing the chance of falling. Water aerobics helps members boost coordination and have more physical control, which increases safety and injury prevention out of the water too.

 

Members in recovery from injuries such as falls or hip replacements often enjoy the class as well. Because Liquid Cardio class is so gentle on the joints, it can be a great addition to your physical therapy program. Performing movements like arm raises or water jogging can be pain-free and speed along your recovery. (Make sure to ask your care provider before joining class).

 

What if I am a Beginner? What if I am Not a Strong Swimmer?

That is ok! Though the class is taught in the pool, it is not a swimming class and no swimming is required. If you are new to fitness or water aerobics, that is also no problem. The movements taught in Liquid Cardio class can be scaled or adjusted to meet you right where you are. All levels are welcome.

 

Liquid Cardio is Fun!

No one comes to exercise class (at least not more than once) if it is boring, dull, or repetitive. At Liquid Cardio class, you can get fit, stay fit, and have fun — all in one hour. Enjoy the upbeat and encouraging instructors, see some of your friends and neighbors, and enjoy the lively music as you jog, kick, and curl your way to fitness!

Liquid Cardio is offered year-round in the delightful 82-degree junior Olympic pool at the Paseo Club. It is taught six days per week at 9:15 am Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and at 9 am Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Simply open your Paseo Club app for easy sign-up.
