With summer starting, families are transitioning from the school year to new vacation schedules. Summer is a great time for kids to get involved in some of their favorite activities and to spend more time outdoors. Whether you are looking for camps, classes, or one-day outings, in this article you will find something for everyone.
Paseo Club’s staff and instructors are specialists in creating fun and engaging programs for kids of all ages. But we are not the only great resource in the Santa Clarita Valley.
In this article, you will get a thorough run down of all of the choices available for kids of all ages. By the time you have read it, you should know what the best summer options are for the children in your life.
Santa Clarita summer camps
Whether your child is an athlete, artist, performer, or budding equestrian, there is a wide selection of summer camps to choose from. Some of these camps are half-day, others are full day and yet some have the option for both. You’ll find camps for children from pre-school age through the teen years.
- Cal Elite Gymnastics Camp runs from June 6 - August 13. There are half-day and all-day options. It provides kids with an energetic day of:
- Games
- Tumbling
- Obstacle courses
- Gymnastics
- Camp Clarita is a camp organized by the city of Santa Clarita. There are summer camps available for pre-schoolers through school-age children. Dates vary depending on age. The camp is a day camp and kids engage in:
- Making crafts
- Swimming
- Going on field trips
- City of Clarita Specialty Camps runs from 9 am to 2 pm June 13 - August 5 with the option of your child coming for early morning or late afternoon programs.
- Gilchrest Farm Camp hosts kids ages five through sixteen years. There are seven one-week camps available beginning June 13 and ending August 5. The twelve to sixteen-year-olds participate in a Counselor in Training Program that emphasizes leadership skills and advanced riding. Kids learn:
- To work with horses
- Milk goats
- Make traditional crafts
- Paseo Club Pickleball and Activity Camp is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the summer. Buy packages of “camp days” — 5, 10, 20, or 30-day options.
- Play games
- Learn drills
- Eat lunch
- Cool off in the pool
- Santa Clarita Boys and Girls Club Summer Program is from 7 am - 7 pm Monday through Friday, June 13 - August 10. Pay for the days you select.
- Free breakfast and lunch are provided
- Kids participate in games, art, and play
- The cost is only $10 per day
- Santa Clarita Equestrian Center hosts a camp for kids from 9 am to 12 pm with the option of coming one hour earlier and/or staying one hour later. This camp is for children ages six and up. Camps are one-week long sessions and run from June 13 - August 5.

- Crafts
- Sunshine Day Camp is for children from transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. Sunshine camp has been in existence since 1984.

- Trinity Classical Academy Camp is for five to twelve-year-olds and runs from 7:30 am - 5 pm June 13 - August 5. Choose from:
- Academic Boot Camp

- Valley Trails Camp offers extended hours to families who need it. Camps run throughout the summer from June 13 - August 5. This outdoor camp offers:
- Archery
- Fort building
- Swimming
- VIBE Performing Arts Camp has camps for children as young as three. Most camps go from 10 am - 2 pm. Age ranges vary according to the camp. Check out:

Kids Classes and lessons in Santa Clarita
Summer can be a great time for your child to engage in favorite hobbies or learn a new one. There are learning options for all ages that cover many different interests.
- Academy Swim Club’s Lessons have been available for 35 years. You can have lessons in your home pool or in-house at one of two pools in Santa Clarita Valley. They are so confident in their teaching techniques that they guarantee them. Private, semi-private, and group lessons are offered.
- Cal Elite Gymnastics offers opportunities for babies as young as four months to play and explore the gym equipment. They have classes for preschoolers and kids through eighteen years old.
- City of Santa Clarita Parks and Rec Summer Art, Dance, Sports, and Music Classes are available throughout the summer. Choose one class or take a few. The options at Parks and Rec are practically endless!
- Dance Studio 84 Dance Classes gives a myriad of fun dance lessons — tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, tumbling, and lyrical. They also offer classes to children with special needs.
- Gilchrest Farm Horse Riding Program offers a holistic approach to horse riding and care. Lessons in English, Western, and Driving are available.
- Paseo Club Swim Lessons are taught by Dorado Swim through the club’s aquatics program. Lessons are available for all ages in the junior-Olympic pool.
- Paseo Club Swim Team is available through the summer aquatics program and is taught by two experienced coaches.
- Paseo Club Tennis Lessons are given to kids starting as young as three and going up to the teens. Kids learn from high-level pro instructors.
- Santa Clarita Equestrian Center gives riding lessons daily to kids eighteen and younger. They teach riding from beginners to expert-level. Lessons include grooming and tacking.
- Tinkergarten Outdoor Classes offers play-based classes in the green spaces of Santa Clarita Valley. These classes are available to toddlers, preschoolers, and young children.
- VIBE Dance, Theater, and Music Lessons are available in a private or group setting. Kids can learn magic, an instrument, singing, film acting, dance, or musical theater.

- Bike Trek is a park located beside George A. Caravalho Santa Clarita Sports Complex. It is a seven-acre bike track for mountain biking and BMX riding. FREE.
- Castaic Lake is an awesome place to recreate as a family. It has 11,200 total acres of parkland and open space habitat. Go boating, fishing, hiking, water skiing, swimming, and more.
- Castaic Regional Sports Complex, Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, and Paseo Club are all pools that offer summer swim programs and family swimming.
- Placerita Canyon Natural Area, Ed Davis Park, or Quigley Canyon Park are natural areas you can visit in the valley. Pack your lunch and grab a frisbee as you hike, picnic, and recreate at any of these green spaces. FREE.
- Santa Clarita Skate Park or Castaic Skate Park for some great options for skating in Santa Clarita Valley. FREE.
- The Cube Santa Clarita offers ice skating, hockey, and curling. There are lots of open skate times available throughout the week. This is the place to cool down.
- Top Out Climbing offers rock climbing with auto-belays. You can also try your hand at bouldering. This is a great alternative on hot summer days.
Be a tourist in your hometown
It’s not often we can look at where we live with fresh eyes. Here’s a list of the places that offer some of the most fun that can be had in Santa Clarita Valley. Go with your family. Go with friends. Have a blast and see your town like you never had before.
- Billy Beez is an indoor play park with slides, tunnels, sports courts, a cafe, and more. They host birthdays.
- Brave New World Comic Book Shop is a place to find comics, graphic novels, and card and board games.
- Gentle Barn and Gilchrest Farm host visitors during the summer. Gentle Barn is an animal sanctuary that offers tours of farm animals including horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, emus, sheep, and goats. Cow hug therapy is also available. Gilchrest Farm offers many fun options including goat yoga, family campouts, and other classes and events.
- Mb2 Entertainment is a fun center offering an arcade, bumper boats, bowling, go-karts, laser tag, and mini-golf. It is for all ages, kids through adults.
- Newhall Aquarium is a non-profit learning center dedicated to teaching visitors about marine life. You can even host birthdays there.
- Paintball USA is open on the weekends for multi-age play and adventure. They are open rain or shine. Call to make a reservation.
- Six Flags Amusement Park has been giving families a rocking good time for years. Check out the roller coasters, take a ride on the tour bus, or choose your favorite animal on the carousel.
- The Fun Factory has an arcade, games, and prizes making it a destination not to be missed. You can also have birthday parties there.
- Trampoline Park Valencia is just the place for your kiddos to burn some energy.
- Valencia Lanes and Santa Clarita Lanes are two bowling options in the valley. Both offer online reservations to book your lane.
