The Paseo Club is happy to introduce our new Junior Tennis Program. Our new program begins November 17th of this year and we can’t be more thrilled to start this journey with our members. After thorough deliberation, we have come up with a method unlike any other can’t wait to share it with you.

This program dedicates focusing on each level and age group of tennis players in our junior program. We are taking coaching, skills, and understanding of the sport to the next level. With a staff like ours equipped with professional tennis players, there is no doubt in our mind that they will enable your child to grow and succeed in their tennis career.

Throughout this article, we discuss and dissect each aspect of this program at every level.

What is the Junior Tennis Program?

In this breakdown, we go level by level of the pyramid and explain each one to give you a better understanding of what the method behind our madness is and the goal we want to do while your child partakes in it.

Our mission is to get your child to work their way up this pyramid as they get older, progress, and develop in the sport of tennis. We ensure to be with them every step, by providing them with the tools necessary to succeed. In the image above you can see that we help train tennis players as young as the ages of 3 years old to 5.

We strive to provide your child with a structured environment that is also supportive, and competitive. When surrounded by coaches who once played and or still play at the professional level will encourage them to become the best they can be.

There are no obstacles that your child won't overcome when becoming an athlete because there is no limit here at Paseo. Although your child will only get as much out of this program as they are willing to put in. This program isn’t for everyone, yet, through hard work and determination, we feel that anyone has the opportunity and ability to become a successful player.

  1. Preschool Performance

We begin our Pyramid with our Paseo Preschool level. This part of the program was built with our tiny tots in mind, ages 3-5 learn valuable motor development skills that will assist them in all sports as they grow.

Our Preschool Performance level focuses on the ABCs - agility, balance, and coordination will be at the forefront, all while playing games and enjoying court time with friends. This group will only use the Net Gen Red Ball for ease of stroke production and timing.

The main emphasis for this level focuses on FUN and building self-confidence in athletics. Kids will learn the basics of stroke development, movement, and body control, as well as footwork, all pivotal in helping them understand the basics of tennis.

Classes for this level are held Saturdays from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. We feel that these shorter class sessions allow the younger children to enjoy their time on the court and focus for short periods while maintaining the emphasis on having fun.

  1. Paseo Starters: Red Ball/Orange Ball

On the next level of our program is our Paseo Starters level where the 5-8-year-olds are introduced to the fundamentals of tennis through activities designed to build a solid foundation for long-term athletic development.

Activities are continued, focused on developing the ABCs (agility, balance, and coordination) all while forming skills necessary to serve, rally, and score. Cooperative drills are used to introduce players to more consistent topics of play.

This group will focus on the Net Gen Red Ball for ease of consistency and stroke production. After completing this they will progress into the Net Gen Orange Ball as they get closer to moving into Futures.

Paseo Starters classes are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays are when our orange ball classes are from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Saturdays are when our red ball classes are from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

  1. Paseo Futures: Green Dot Ball

Paseo Futures is the following level that introduces the basic skills of tennis through the use of hand-eye coordination drills and stroke production. Beginners aged 10 + and those who have progressed through the lower levels of instruction will thrive in this fun-filled growth stage of tennis.

The ABCs (agility, balance, and coordination) are a major focus at this level. Cooperative drills are used to introduce players to serve, rally, and score. Students will build a strong foundation through playing and fun drills that will lead to quicker development. The low compression green balls or standard yellow balls are used.

If your child is at the age and level to take part in our Paseo Starters Green Dot Ball classes you can find them being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. As your child gets older you may notice the length of the classes increasing.

We feel that given their age, they can focus for longer periods and will benefit from 2-hour tennis classes. They will be able to retain more information and skills and this enables them to get more practice throughout the week.

  1. Paseo Advanced: Yellow Ball

As young players advance through the levels of the Paseo juniors training pyramid, they will reach a point of playing at a tournament level. Players at this level have demonstrated an understanding of the core concepts.

They can vary their shots with different speeds, spins, and placement. The focus at this level is on tactics and general point play. All players must have played tennis before entering this level, and are starting tournament play or looking to make local high school teams. To partake in this program you must be accepted into it or invited.

Paseo Advanced classes are held 3 times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. These classes are for any age in our junior program, however, your child needs the coach's approval to take part. Approval is pivotal in ensuring your child is at the right level for them.

  1. Paseo Elite: Yellow Ball

At the highest level of junior player programming, these students are all looking toward collegiate play as well as high-level tournaments. This level consists of live ball drills, functional fitness, match play, and point play strategy, and tournament preparation is highlighted in this intensive drill series.

Acceptance from pros is required to register for Elite training and is designed for the junior player looking to extend their foundation to higher levels.

Paseo Elite classes are held 2 times a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Just like how Paseo Advanced classes are for any age in our junior program, so are our Paseo Elite classes. Yet, your child will need approval from a coach to take part.
