For many of us, the holiday season is a time of joyousness. We visit with family and friends, celebrate with food and libations, and exchange gifts to the peals of laughter from our children.
But for many people, this is not a time of celebration. This period is a time of increased stress and struggle.
Over 9% of people living in Santa Clarita Valley live in poverty. That is more than 17,000 men, women, children, and seniors.
There are also many people that live above the poverty line but still face insecurity in their access to food, housing, and healthcare.
Thanksgiving is an opportunity to reflect on our good fortune and to consider how we can help others in need.
The Paseo Club is a social club dedicated to the health of its members and the community of the Santa Clarita Valley. Many staff and members are involved in volunteering and community outreach, which is why we want to share this resource with you.
In this article, we will provide you with a comprehensive guide to where you can donate your time, money, or gifts during Thanksgiving and the holiday season in the Santa Clarita Valley. You will learn about the organizations, the fundraisers, and how you can get involved.
Where to donate at Thanksgiving in the Santa Clarita Valley
Every year JCI (Junior Chamber International) organizes a holiday toy drive for children in Santa Clarita.
For its 24th year, JCI is teaming up with local businesses and individuals to collect, sort, and wrap toys to give to children that are in need.
They have 25 drop-off locations, including the Paseo Club. This year they are hoping to get over 300 toys.
There are four volunteer opportunities as well.

Whether you choose to make a cash gift, help at an event, or donate a toy or clothing item for Christmas, there are many simple ways that you can get involved in supporting those in need.
