The Red Cross surveyed children’s swimming skills and made a shocking discovery. Over 61% of children do not have basic water safety skills, including half of all teens. Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children.

Water competency consists of five specific skills.

  1. Step or jump into water that is over your head
  2. Return to the surface and float or tread water for one minute
  3. Turn around in a full circle and find an exit
  4. Swim 25 yards to an exit
  5. Exit the pool without using a ladder

If your child is not yet water-competent, take time this summer to help them get there. With the many knowledgeable teachers in the SCV, your child will become a stronger swimmer and have a lot of fun.

Dorado Swim has teamed up with the Paseo Club to provide your child with quality swim lessons at whatever level they are at. Parents who are members can use that time to watch the lesson, grab a bite at the cafe, or hit the gym.

The Paseo Club is a family-centered social club. There are several activities and social events for the whole family throughout the year — summer camps, junior tennis, dive-in movies, Kids Club childcare, and more.

As a member, you can enjoy all eight acres of the club — tennis and pickleball courts, the pool, fitness classes, Pilates, the gym, and more. Be a part of a club that values health, fitness, and social connections. Join today. You’ll never look back!
