Q: There are 3 advantages and 3 disadvantages to using the semi western forehand grip.  Can you list two advantages and two disadvantages?

A: Advantages to using the semi western forehand grip are:
1.  Easier to hit topspin
2.  Easier to hit high balls
3.  More of your hand is behind shot so it feels stronger
4.  Able to hit it harder in the court
5.  Requires more racquet speed to go in, so allows you to swing hard all the time
6.  Easier to hit balls closer to your body, so you are harder to jam and it is easier to get around your backhand and hit forehands

Disadvantages of hitting with the semi western forehand grip:
1.  Can’t hit slice effectively
2. More of a grip change between forehand and backhand
3. Hitting low balls is very difficult because the racquet face is more closed
4. Hitting wide balls is very difficult because if you extend your arm,  the racquet is very closed
5. Requires racquet speed, so you must swing harder on more shots, so you better be in shape
