Darren grew up in Santa Clarita and began playing tennis at the age of 15. He quickly advanced on the junior circuit earning top Sectional and National rankings. Following his junior career, he attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. While in school he simultaneously competed in professional tournaments obtaining a top United States National Professional ranking as an amateur. After graduating from UC-Berkeley, he trained with Grant Doyle, Sam Querrey’s former coach, and John Roddick, brother and former coach of Andy Roddick, and the current Head Coach at the University of Oklahoma. While working with Doyle and Roddick, he functioned as a practice partner for their stable of Top-200 ATP ranked players. Darren works with players of all ages and abilities. He is very active in the Paseo Club’s Junior Academy, and specializes in the quick development of novice and beginning players.
